Run, Run, As Fast As You Can

Well, it's been fun here but Tales Of The Cool is on the move. I will no longer be posting here, instead I have found a new home. Tumblr here I come.

Google

Now that I got your attention, thanks to the lovely Alison Brie, I would like to take the time to promote an artist with a special event happening April 27th. It is no secret that Bobby Ray (B.o.B.) is one of my favorite newcomers to the hip-hop scene. Even though he is often categorized as a rapper I hesitate to do so because once you get used to the emcee side, B.o.B., you are introduced to the other half Bobby Ray, a guitar playing musician who makes songs in the genre that he chooses depending on the mood he is in. From blues to pop, rock to rap, once you hear one thing expect something different. With the album release date being almost a month away I would like to (re)introduce you to the artist known as B.o.B.

Catch Me If You Can

As I sit here scratching my head over the fact that Jesse James picked this Marilyn Manson looking hoe lady over Sandra Bullock I found three songs that came out recently. One of the songs led me to this picture of Shanell which left me scratching my head even harder (pause). I didn't think it was possible for a guy to be so stupid and I will never understand the reasoning behind Shanell, and all her beauty, having something hanging from her nose like that. Oh well, you can get the new Shanell track featuring the moans of Lil Wayne and the "raps" of Mack Maine here. The real reason I write this post is to give you another Freddie Gibbs track that he gave via Twitter, and a remix to Outasight's "Catch Me If You Can" featuring Asher Roth.

Freddie Gibbs - Keep Pimpin' feat. Ray Cash
Outasight - Catch Me If You Can Remix feat. Asher Roth

Pac Div - Shut Up (Video)

A preview for this video came out a long time ago and finally get the real thing. Church League Champs, let's go.

Just Dance

Alright, I haven't messed with the blog the last couple of days because I have been away from my laptop. And (I don't care what my professors say, I'll start a sentence with "and" whenever I want) posts are going to be a lil' light around here for a while as well because I'm busy celebrating like the guy above. However, here is some new music from Asher Roth and Killer Mike to hold you over until I decide to take this serious again. Which is probably next week, when I want to get away from school, haha.

2DopeBoyz

Every Sunday Shake from 2DopeBoyz puts out a collection of R&B tracks that came out recently and calls it Shake's Sunday Soothing Session. I don't normally download it (and didn't download this one), and I won't be posting it every week as he does. However, this week's cover art was to good to not share. I mean look at that and tell me you didn't at least chuckle. The tape includes songs from Jennifer Lopez, Bruno Mars, Dru Hill, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, and more.

Don't Know Ya

Mr. Bobby Ray lends some bars to Drake's single "Over." You may be asking me, "where is Drake's first single? How can you call this a hip-hop blog site, and not post that song?" Well, that's because if you want to hear that song you can listen to the first verse of "Forever" on a loop, seeing as how Drake talks about the same sh!t on every track. Anyway, Adventures of Bobby Ray April 27th!

Well...

I was gonna post that new Lady Gaga video because I thought my blog could use some diversity, but it would be wrong for me to post a video that I couldn't even sit through. I mean it's okay to make a nine minute video (not really), but if absolutely nothing happens for the first two minutes (the song didn't even start) there is no way I'm sitting through the next seven. Soooooo, here is a scene from the Boondock Saints. Fair trade? If you do want to see the video you can watch it at 2DB.

Freddie Gibbs x Pill

"This shit is nasty"

The dope collaborators both had some new music come out today. From Gangsta Gibbs we get C.H.L. (Cops, Hoes, & Labels) and the Pill track was featured on XXL's Freshman mixtape, which I refuse to post because knowing Whoo Kid there's a shit-load of name drops and "Pow"s over the tracks.

C.H.L. (Download)
Angels Freestyle (Download)

May 25th (No DJ)

I have been hesitating on these no DJ posts, except for "F*** The Money", because I thought an entire no DJ version of the mixtape would have dropped. Instead, we have been getting one song at a time. As long I get "Rain" sans-DJ I'll be happy. Here we have Gladiators featuring J. Cole, which dropped a while back, and Bet I featuring Playboy Tre.

Spring Break (Guard Your Girl)

Let's see how well you raised your kids...

Conceited (Part 2)

I did this word before but I don't feel like finding another one, like I said before it's inevitable (part 1). I'm sure there are some dope songs I can be posting but I can't really focus on anything right now, too many good things happening at the moment. One more day till freedom and six more days till I'm back in my former (soon to be new) home of Austin. Not going for SXSW but I might sneak into a show or two while I'm in town.

Fo Yo Sorrows (Video)

For those who think life isn't fair
Cuz I blow my smoke in the air
As if no one be standing there
Then I'll roll one tonight
FO YO SORROWS
In my chair
As I sit back smiling from ear to ear
With a fistful of your girlfriends hair
Yes, she'll blow one tonight
FO YO SORROWS

The dope videos keep coming. Sir Lucious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty coming soon!

B.o.B. - Nothin On You ft. Bruno Mars (Video)

The official video for Bobby Ray's first single (I guess "I'll Be In The Sky" was a dope mulligan). If this song does not make him blow up into stardom I just don't know what's going on in the world anymore, his album was pushed up so that should be a sign. You can get the single on iTunes and you can get B.o.B. Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray at you local Best Buy/Target/Hip-Hop Shop April 27th.

Freaknik: The Musical

Just in case you missed it on Adult Swim last night here is T-Pain's animated musical (which was better than I expected). The musical features the voices of T-Pain, Snoop Dogg, Cee-Lo, Big, Boi, Charlie Murphy, Lil Wayne (as Trap Jesus with a funny ending), Rick Ross, and more.

Tales of Gangsta Gibbs

Yessir, Tales of Gangsta Gibbs is back in effect with some new songs. These two goodies were on XXL's Freshmen 2010 with a bunch of Who Kidd (or is it Whoo Kid? Whoo Kidd? I don't know) name drops. But a few good men put out a no DJ version, now if we could just get a no DJ version of B.o.B.'s May 25th...

Born 2 Roll
Youz A Hoe

KiD CuDi - Pursuit Of Happiness ft. MGMT & Ratatat

Alternate version that made my head spin.

Lil Wayne ft. Eminem - Drop The World

This Lil Wayne Eminem video came out last week but I've been hoping for a video to come out that wasn't edited and didn't have bold text pop up in the video. That day still hasn't come so I guess this will do for now.

T.I.P.I.M.P.

IT'S THE KING BITCH!!!

THE KING'S BACK!

While one rapper gets sent to jail for a year *cough*Weezy*cough*, another one returns with his first song since being released. Good song, I think it's amazing but it's the first new song I heard from T.I. in a while so I don't want my excitement to over-hype it. And according to a member of the Twitter World we can expect his new album August 24th.

Stat Quo - Success

The first official single of the long awaited STATLANTA album. Looks like it's actually coming...

Big Boi - Tangerine

The folks over at RapRadar pushed Big Boi into playing the T.I.-less version of Tangerine. That intro is a monster, the long named album is supposed to come out some time this summer I think, don't quote me.

B.o.B. - DJ Skee Interview

In this video B.o.B. answers questions about his label, T.I., and Eminem. When asked about the Eminem shout-out he received B.o.B. replied, "the 15 year-old version of me would of just came on himself," HA! Adventures of Bobby Ray comes out April 27th, I know what I'll be doing.

B.o.B. - Not Love

Video from one of Bobby Ray's earlier song that was featured on the LRG mixtape Hello My Name Is B.o.B. Let's face it he is no Slick Rick (not saying he's trying to be) but this is still a cool song.

Drop The World BTS (Video)

Looking forward to this one, if any song from Rebirth was going to get a music video you knew it was going to be this one. I was wondering how it was possible to shoot over 7 videos in such a small time frame, now I find out all he did was stand in front of a green screen (for most if not all of them I'm assuming) and let other people make the vid.

Gorillaz - Stylo ft. Mos Def & Bobby Womack

Bruce Willis and Mos Def, think I'm going to watch 16 Blocks tonight. I don't understand how the video relates to the song but oh well. I still like it more than that Young Money "Roger That" video, which also premiered today. You can search for it on youtube though because I'm not posting that. Once again, Bobby Womack is not to be confused with Brandi Womack. I also included another leak from the Gorillaz album that features Mos Def again.

Nightmare On Elm Street

I wasn't sure about this at first but if anyone can pull off Freddy it's Rorschach.

Avatar

I'm not gonna lie, I am really looking forward to this. I'm also not ashamed to say that the cartoon was pretty badass, yes I'm 19. I just hope it doesn't turn into a Twilight type movie. Coming out July 2nd.

All Day I Dream About Sex

Bet, you never expected to see this band on my blog. Truth be told I'm not a big fan of Korn, but I was listening to Killer Mike's A.D.I.D.A.S. one day when I discovered this version. You can watch the Hip-Hop version down below (edits are killing me).

How Low

I'm in a Ludacris mood so I'll give this video a third, yes third, chance

My Chick Bad 2

Why not give Luda one more shot?

TV on the Radio - DLZ

I would have never gave this song a chance, until I heard it Breaking Bad.

Michael Franti & Spearhead - Ganja Babe

I'm bringing light like Thomas funky Edison

I'm not familiar with this group but I have fallen in love with this song. You may have heard it on the Showtime series WEEDS, one of my favorite shows on television (Breaking Bad on AMC is my #1). You can find the song the Season 1 soundtrack of WEEDS. Live version down below...

Ryan Lewis - Fake Empire

I don't actually own this song but I saw this video a while back and thought it was cool.*movie trailer guy voice* "Macklemore stars in Fake Empire. A Ryan Lewis Production."

Ludacris - Saturday

I cannot for the life of me remember what I did Saturday. I know that at night I played catch up here at TOTC, but I can't recall what I did during the day. Whatever it was, I'm sure I had a good time.

Macklemore ft. Champagne Champagne - Kings (Live)

I'm in one of those moods where all I want to do is sit and listen to G.O.O.D. good music. Expect a lot of old videos as I look through Youtube and try to find some songs I haven't heard in a while. First up, Macklemore and Champagne Champagne got together last year to perform the song they did for the dope Vs. EP.

J. Cole/B.o.B. Gladiators Live X B.o.B. ft. T-Pain Trunk Band

While J. Cole was in the ATL B.o.B. stopped by to perform their song from Bobby Ray's mixtape May 25th, sometimes I wish I lived in Atlanta. I also included an unreleased song from 3 years ago that he did with Mr. Autotune. Adventures of Bobby Ray comes out April 27th, make your iPod (or CD collection) happy and BUY yourself a copy.

B.o.B. - Trunk Band

KiD CuDi - Know Why

Fresh off of getting kissed by some dude onstage someone in Scott Mescudi's camp put out some unreleased music. What he does on his spare time is his business, though I assumed he just got high all day, as long as he continues to make good music I don't care.

Know Why Download

A Ludacris Post

If you read my blog and see how upset I get about the Ludacris videos you may think I hate the dude. Not true, he is actually one of my favorite rappers, and in the last couple of days we were lucky enough to get 3 new song featuring the ATLien. Two are brand new, one is unreleased.

Killer Mike - Still My N- ft. Ludacris & Game
Ludacris - Mindfreak ft. Criss Angel
Some Band - Start All Over ft. Ludacris

Raaaaaaaandy – Aaaaaaaangry

The comedian Aziz Ansari is coming out with a mixtape and what better way to start your career than diss everyone in the game (see 50 Cent). Shots fired at Scott Mescudi, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Dr. Dre, Doom and more.

Def Jam Rapstar: Pill Ad

The Atlanta bred emcee P-I-Double L does a dope ad for the upcoming game Def Jam Rapstar. If you don't know about the game, its a karaoke game with hip-hop music. Dumb game, but the ads are cool.

Gorillaz - Superfast Jellyfish ft. De La Soul

First we got Mos Def, now we have De La Soul. I'm really looking forward to this album, scheduled to come out March 9th.

Superfast Jellyfish Download

JD Era - Th1rt3en (Mixtape)

I not familiar with JD Era, but after listening to this mixtape I'm going to keep an ear open for any upcoming work. The tape features guest performances from Freddie Gibbs (on what I think is the best track), Drake, and more. Tracklist and download link after the jump...

Kanye West - Coldest Winter

While on hiatus in Hawaii and working on his new album Kanye has come out with a new video for his old one. You know you're watching a Yeezy video when you see a closeup of big bouncing brrrrranches....gotta keep it clean.

Charles Hamilton Itsthereal.com

Charles Hamilton gives us a recap of his eventful year. Got signed, got dropped, good to see the guy can make jokes about it though. Hopefully good things come to this guy.

Guess Who's Back

I post so many songs from this guy I should rename the site Tales of Gangsta Gibbs. What can I say? I like finding slightly unknown artists and watching them blow up (ex. KiD CuDi, and B.o.B.). Fresh off his XXL freestyle, Freddie Gibbs gives us a new song from his new mixtape Str8 Killa No Filla.

XXL Freshman 10 Freestyle: Freddie Gibbs

Well I'm definitely getting this issue now. Also, I see that the Ludacris video has been removed..."Say FUCK YOU LUDA!!"

Friday, February 19, 2010

Ludacris - My Chick Bad ft. Nicki Minaj

And the "best song on the album" gets a video featuring Nicki Minaj looking crazy like always. If this is the best song I think I'll pass, Battle of the Sexes comes to your local iTunes March 9th.......hopefully this video doesn't go through the same amount of fuckery the last one did.

J. Cole XXL Freestyle

A new member from XXL's freshman class. I don't know who made the list but unless Freddie Gibbs made the list, Pill and J. Cole are my favorite.

No Man's Land

This video came out before I had a blog, and is my favorite video featuring Bobby Ray. Album comes out April 27th.

Jump Up In The Air

I thought the song I posted was the final product, but apparently it wasn't mastered. *shrugs* Sounded good enough to me, but I guess that's why I'm not in the business.

Happy Valentine's Day (Part 2)

As promised Part 2.....Fuck that Valentine's Day.

Erykah Badu - Window Seat

I've had this song on my iPod for a while, and I thought for sure I made a post but I guess not, my bad. Oh well, better late than never. This is the official first single from Erykah Badu's upcoming album New Amerykah Part Two: Return of The Ankh (even though Jump In the Air came out first and has a new video), featuring the drumming of ?uestlove from The Roots.

Hollywood FLOSS - She Said...

I'm not sure who Hollywood FLOSS is but this is a great track, I'm gonna have to look up this guy's work. This song will be featured on TheHipHopEffect's Girls I Gave My Heart To, coming out tomorrow, as well as Hollywood's album House Of Dreams.

We Are The World

This video proves how fast I can go from liking Lil Wayne to hating him. He was dope in the Erykah Badu song, but trash in this, then again the blame falls into the hands of the person who wanted autotune to be in this classic. The original is way better, but this is for a good cause and you can't really ask for a better reason to make a song. Help Haiti and donate, but let me tell you that there are better songs you can be getting if you wish to receive music in return. It was nice to see Nipsey Hussle saying absolutely nothing though.

Erykah Badu ft. Lil Wayne - Jump In The Air (Stay There)

I know Lil Wayne has been busy the last couple of weeks but this was unexpected. Here I am waiting for the Drop The World video to come out, and out of thin air we get this. Dope video, and the more I hear this song the more I want Andre 3000 to be on one of the alternate versions.

Bobby Ray - Down For Y'all

B.o.B. provides us with a new track to celebrate his album's release date being pushed up to April 27th. I'm glad that post I made earlier turned out to be true, and that means his mixtape name doesn't mean shit now, but who cares we get blessed with a dope album a month earlier.

The Adventures of Bobby Ray Pushed Up?

TJ Chapman said the Bobby Ray's album has been pushed up from May 25th to April 27th. It's not often you see a rapper push his album (Kanye, Jay, and Em the only artists I can think of prior) and if it's true it's fantastic news. However, TJ may have spoken too soon because the date hasn't been confirmed.

Joell Ortiz - Call Me (ft. Novel)

A video for Joell's (feel good) single from his upcoming album Free Agent. Dope song gets a dope video, Rik Cordero does it again.

Coquetry

It's been a while since I've done a word of the day, which is sad because I actually enjoy doing these. So, in honor of Valentine's Day coming up (hopefully you didn't forget like I did, good thing I'm single) I have chosen the word coquetry, behaving in a flirtatious manner. I enjoy a woman being the aggressor, shows strength and self confidence. However, don't do so by being all over me making it hard for me to walk because you are right up on my back, and poking your head around my shoulder when you want to talk. If it sounds like I'm talking about a specific incident I am, but anyway happy Valentine's Day to all the restaurants making BIG $$$$$ this Sunday. I'll be watching the All-Star game, maybe with a special someone (I still got time, right?).

Lil Wayne - Eat You Alive ft. Ludacris (Ludamix)

Ludacris adds some bars to the questionably titled song that was supposed to be on Tha Carter 3. Also the "We Are The World" remake is supposed to be released tomorrow. The song features rappers such as Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, T-Pain, Nipsey Hussle, LL Cool J, Drake, Fergie, KiD CuDi, will.I.am, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. I don't know if they are going to be singing or not, I can't imagine why they would.

David Guetta ft. KiD CuDi - Memories

New video from Cudder and his DJ buddy. If you have HBO (unlike me) and enjoy giving a new series a chance (like me), than you may have caught Scott "Kid" Mescudi on the new show How To Make It In America. If you watched the show but didn't see him, that's because he only had two lines in the episode. Supposedly, his character will become more involved as the show goes on. Anyway, you can watch the first episode here.

Pill - Thoughts

New music from the Atlanta emcee, off of his upcoming mixtape 1140: The Overdose. Up top is a freestyle that he did for SMKA for their 808 Experiment Vol. 2.

Day 4

On Day 4 of the LRG series Bobby Ray performs "I'll Be In The Sky" to a crowd that doesn't know what to do at a concert. I mean come on people! I've seen this guy live when he came to Austin with CuDi, and Asher Roth, and he was one of the better acts. The least you guys/gals can do is bob your head.

Ludacris - My Chick Is Bad ft. Nicki Minaj

A while back people who attended the Battle of The Sexes listening party people were saying that this was the best track from the album. I don't know I like "How Low" better, but then again I'm not much of a Nicki Minaj fan.

A Day In the Life w/ B.o.B.

Day 1 & 2 of LRG's new series A Day In the Life with B.o.B. They are following Bobby Ray as he promotes his new album B.o.B. Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray which comes out May 25th. In the first video he talks to Power 106 and in the second more radio stations at the Nokia Center in LA for the Grammys. Of all the newcomers Bobby Ray, KiD CuDi, and J. Cole have most if not all of my attention. Don't forget to pick up his new mixtape May 25th, which if your were sleeping can be found here.

Drop The World/Forever

So some lucky people got to see this performance where they know how to edit songs without removing the whole verse. Thank God.

May 25th

Ladies and gentlemen it is February first and that means the release of B.o.B's new mixtape May 25th. The mixtape features artist such as Charles Hamilton, Asher Roth, J. Cole, and Playboy Tre. Cover, tracklist, and download link after the jump.

Ladies and Gentlemen, 50 Cent!

Curtis Jackson is probably jumping around like crazy right now. 50 owes Eminem big now, not only for signing him but for helping him win his first Grammy. That's right 50 Cent no longer has to live moments like this because he finally got his Grammy. So crack a bottle Fiddy, you deserve it.

Bullsh!* Version

I was really looking forward to this performance, too bad the censorship at CBS almost ruined it. I mean I understand having to edit out curse words, but does the edit really have to take over an entire verse? If I could find an unedited version of this it would be great, although it probably will not happen. Thank You Rapradar

In Case You Missed It

Because the Grammys focus on the performances instead of the awards I thought I'd let you know which rappers went home happy.

Best Rap Solo Performance:
Jay-Z - D.O.A.

Best Rap Song:
Jay-Z, Rihanna, Kanye West - Run This Town

Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group:
Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent - Crack A Bottle

Best Rap Album:
Eminem - Relapse

While I'm not sure I would consider Relapse last year's best rap album I'm happy for Mr. Mathers. I'm also happy Drake didn't win, put an album out first brah.

Oh yea......FUCK Taylor Swift

The Saints Are Coming

If you have never seen the original Boondock Saints you have been missing out. No worries though, the Saints are coming back to a movie theater near you for one night only. The Saints are celebrating their 10th anniversary on March 11th in select theaters, though if I found showings in San Antonio and Austin I bet you can find it easily. Tickets go on sale Monday (Feb. 1st) to those on their newsletter and Friday (Feb. 5th) for the rest of us. Also if you missed the second one, like I did thanks to no showings near me, the movie goes on sale next month, March 9th. Hopefully it's easy to find in stores.

It's Coming...

A real man admits when he is wrong, and that is what I shall do right now. A while back I posted a rumor (that turned out to be false) that Rebirth had been pushed back, again. Well, turns out I was wrong. It is coming out when they said it would, which happens to be Tuesday. I stand my statements of it being a terrible idea however. I sure as hell won't buy it, or any songs from the album....especially since I already got the Eminem track for free, HA!

Erykah Badu - Jump Up In The Air (Stay There) ft. Lil Wayne

A radio rip of this song came out a while back but now we are blessed with a CDQ. Supposedly there are 10 other emcees on this song, but Badu won't let out any names. I don't know if there is going to be a version with all of them together, or if she's just gonna put out 10 different versions of the same song. Whatever the case may be it is off of her upcoming album, New Amerykah pt. 2: Return of the Ankh. Hopefully we get an Andre 3000 verse, or maybe even OutKast together, only Erykah knows though.

Forever

If you're like me you wished the Eminem performed the "Forever" track at the AMA's with Wayne, Drake, and Kanye. It is being said that the rappers (minus Kanye) will team up with Travis Parker for a live performance at the Grammys this Sunday (sorry Pro Bowl). Rapradar.com has also reported the Wayne and Eminem are currently working on a video for "Drop the World" before Weezy goes to get raped in prison.
